Mount Adapter EF-EOS R — the three official variants

Standard, Control Ring, and Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R: what is identical, what each adds, and what Canon states about EF/EF-S lens compatibility on RF bodies.

The family

Canon sells three variants of the EF→RF adapter: the standard Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, the Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, and the Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. Their product pages carry the same compatibility statement — attaching one to an RF-mount body enables “any lens in Canon's rich EF & EF-S lens line-up,” excluding EF-M and Cinema EOS lenses.

What each variant adds

VariantCompatibilityAdded feature
StandardIdentical
Control Ring Identical A control ring on the adapter — Canon: it “allows users to control settings via the control ring, even with EF lenses.”
Drop-in Filter Identical A rear drop-in filter slot; the verified page covers the version sold with a circular polarizing filter.

Because compatibility semantics are identical across variants, this site models them as one adapter family with three variants — every verdict states the family, not one SKU.
